Foxopoly Top !! Albums For 2009

The Sounds* “Crossing the Rubicon” – Fine Swedish Import

Julian Plenti* “Julian Plenti Is…Skyscraper” – The Interpol vocalist, Paul Banks, releases his first solo album.  One of the best surprises of the year.

Mastodon* “Crack the Skye” – Genius metal concept album made by dirtheads for dirtheads.

Baroness* “Blue Record” – More fine metal for heshers.  Some of the most incredible album artwork….well, ever courtesy of frontman, John Baizley.

The Life & Times* “Tragic Boogie” – ex-Shiner. Enough said.

National Skyline* “Bliss & Death” – ex-Hum. Enough said x 2.

The Prodigy* Invaders Must Die” – Electronica holdovers put out one of the hardest albums of the year.  The same as they always did, but different.

Alice In Chains* “Black Gives Way To Blue” – They said it couldn’t be done. Well, Cantrell and co. did.  Every song is good and sounds of classic Alice. William DuVall is the epitomy of rock star and a welcome replacement for Layne.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs* “It’s Blitz” – Love YYY.  My second favorite album cover of the year.

Thirty Seconds To Mars* “This Is War” – Though this album was a long time in the making and features obnoxious fan sing-alongs on every track, it is still stellar.  Hope I never meet my face on one of the 2000 variant covers.

Dredg* “The Pariah, the Pirate, the Delusion” – The best album of the year is one that few heard.  Tragically underrated.

Honorable Mention: Them Crooked Vultures, Manic Street Preachers, Trashcan Sinatras, Every Time I Die, Brand New, He Is Legend, A Fine Frenzy, Fever Ray, Doves, CKY, Chevelle, The Lonely Island, Mellowdrone.
