If there’s one constant in my life, it is and has always been music. A loyal friend although, not nearly as impactful for whatever reason as in my youth. The vinyl resurgence has been a godsend in helping me build back my dedication of truly listening and participating. It goes beyond simple collecting- delving into the packaging art, that delectable vinyl aroma or the process and involvement of prepping / playing a beloved record. I’ve put great effort into achieving better sound on my turntable with the ultimate goal of shutting my eyes and imagining the artist performing on a stage right in front of me. Presented are some of the great releases of this past year that helped me inch closer to that achievement…
Thrice ‘To Be Everywhere Is To Be Nowhere’
Nada Surf ‘You Know Who You Are’
Russian Circles ‘Guidance’
Band of Horses ‘Why Are You Okay’
Avenged Sevenfold ‘The Stage’
Metallica ‘Hardwired… To Self Destruct’
Frank Ocean ‘Blond’
David Bowie ‘Black Star’
Die Antwoord ‘Mount Ninji and da Nice Time Kid’
Autolux ‘Pussy’s Dead’
Radiohead ‘A Moon Shaped Pool’
After much speculation and anticipation RDR2 is officially announced for a fall 2017 release. I look back through my gaming history and the original epic is easily atop my most fondest and fulfilling entertainment journeys.
Not usually a fan of lyric videos, but this new Failure single synced up with some classic THX-1138 footage is pretty sweet. ‘The Heart Is a Monster‘ may be my most eagerly awaited albums in the last decade. It’s been even longer since their epic ‘Fantastic Planet’ was released.
